Jacob Moss is a member of the litigation department of Berding | Weil. Mr. Moss represents a wide variety of real estate clients, including common interest developments, commercial owners, single-family owners, and associations in complex construction defect and class action lawsuits throughout California. This includes serving as litigation counsel for one of the largest apartment owners in the United States, which involves litigating multi-million dollar cases all over the state. Mr. Moss' extensive litigation practice in both federal and state courts has encompassed complex real estate and construction defect claims, disputes regarding commercial and consumer sales transactions, property damage and contract claims relating to home improvement projects, partnership disputes involving dissolution and division of extensive assets, fraud claims relating to multi-million dollar transactions, boundary disputes, product liability and personal injury claims. Mr. Moss has second-chair trial experience, and is familiar with and has participated in all forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Moss regularly handles contract negotiations and insurance coverage matters for a variety of small business and corporate clients. Additionally, Mr. Moss serves as general counsel to one to the largest non-profit affordable housing companies in San Francisco. He counsels that entity on commercial disputes, contract negotiations, landlord-tenant issues, and the implementation and interpretation of internal company policy.
Mr. Moss has been elected as a Super Lawyers Northern California Rising Star every year since 2014. This peer-nominated and evaluated award is granted to no more than 2.5% of attorneys under 40 years old in the State of California.
Prior to joining Berding | Weil, Mr. Moss practiced in San Francisco and Oakland, where he handled complex construction, product liability and personal injury cases. His practice focused on counseling owners, contractors and manufacturers on the complexities of construction defect disputes. Mr. Moss is currently active in the Contra Costa County Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Moss received his Juris Doctor in 2009 from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he was awarded the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University, where he studied International Relations and was a four-year varsity letter-winner in baseball.
