Ms. Kannen is a Partner in Berding|Weil where she serves as legal counsel to community associations. She has exclusively represented community associations since 1995 and her vast experience and knowledge enables her to understand the nuances of all aspects of the industry. Ms. Kannen is accessible to her clients and they appreciate her clear, concise opinions and recommendations. Ms. Kannen's broad range of services include advising clients on compliance with the Davis-Stirling Common Interest Development Act, interpreting and amending governing documents, enforcing owner violations, negotiating with governmental entities and counseling directors on board member fiduciary duties.
Ms. Kannen is a graduate of Cornell University and received her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review and graduated cum laude in 1990.
Ms. Kannen is a member of the Orange County Regional Chapter of the Community Associations Institute and the California Association of Community Managers, as well as a member of the California State Bar.
Ms. Kannen served as President of the Orange County/Riverside/San Bernardino chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She also served on the Board of German Shepard Rescue of Orange County and is actively involved in other charitable organizations.
Ms. Kannen is widely recognized as a leader in the field, frequently being called upon to participate in industry panels, presentations, and educational workshops relating to common interest developments.
