Kathleen A. Janics (Katie) is a Partner in Berding | Weil and General Counsel to community associations. She has been a member of the California State Bar since 1990. Ms. Janics advises community associations in all aspects of their operations and transactions including real property issues and statutory compliance with Davis-Stirling and other statutes applicable to common interest developments.
Ms. Janics received both her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Science degrees from the University of Southern California and graduated cum laude from the University of San Diego where she received her Juris Doctor Degree. While at the University of San Diego, she served as an intern for the Honorable Richard Huffman, Fourth District Court of Appeal, and as an associate editor of the Journal of Contemporary Legal Issues. She began practicing in 1990 as a real estate attorney with an emphasis on the creation of community associations and representation of developer entities.
Ms. Janics is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, and is an active member of the Orange County chapters of both the California Association of Community Managers (CACM) and the Community Association Institute (CAI). She assisted in the drafting of the original Bylaws for CACM and served on the Executive Board of Directors and chaired committees for the Orange County Chapter of CAI. She continues to participate in industry presentations and is a frequent author of articles on various issues relating to community associations.
