EMERGENCY ASSESSMENTS

“Under what circumstances can the board levy emergency assessments?”

A board may levy an emergency assessment to fund an extraordinary expense which is: required by court order; necessary to repair or maintain the property where a threat to personal safety on the property is discovered; or necessary to repair or maintain the property where the expense could not have been reasonably foreseen by the board when it prepared the budget. (Civil Code section 1366 (b))
